The UYC Maritime Foundation is organized and operated for the purpose of promoting excellence in the participation of national and international power boating and sailing and the fostering of public interest and enjoyment in maritime activities. These purposes are achieved through the Foundation’s development and support of, and participation in, all aspects of inshore and offshore boating and sailing activities with special emphasis on Lake Lanier, Georgia and surrounding communities.
The Foundation promotes public awareness of all areas of maritime activities through education and instruction of sailing and power boating and the establishment and support of cruising, races and regattas. The Foundation operates to provide locations whereby juniors, youths, collegians and adults can receive training in all areas of sailing and power boating, including rules, safety, and sportsmanship. In furtherance of its activities, the Foundation provides grants, marketing and administrative support as may be necessary.
The UYC Maritime Foundation, Inc. is proud to be the host and/or promote such events as:
- Maritime-related Academic Scholarships for college students
- Summer Sailing Program for youths with learning differences
- Lanier Cup Regatta
- Hot Ruddered Bum Regatta
- Lake Lanier Parade of Lights
- Activities with the Atlanta Alliance on Developmental Disabilities
